Abstract
618,463. Fish dressing. ARENCO AKTIEBOLAG. July 5, 1946, No. 20189. Convention date, April 17, 1945. [Class 28 (ii)] Fish are arranged or positioned with their heads pointing at least in one direction as in Specification 590,138 by an oscillating plate which engages and pushes the fish head first, the plate being also free to move transversely of the fish, i.e. descend and thereby to keep in engagement with and push the fish head first step by step. The positioning is done by the to-and-fro action of an oscillating plate 65 which is also free to descend on the fish, the lower edge 87 of the plate being inclined to and bearing on the fish. Thereby the fish is pushed outwards step by step until the requisite thinner part at the tail comes under the edge which has descended to a set limit and so ceases to have any more outward push on the fish. At this stage the conveyer 1a has carried the fish to the tail cutting off wheel 90. The plate 65 is oscillated about its pivot pin 67 through a cam 80. Slot 69 for the pivot pin 68 allows a plate 65 to descend gradually as allowed by the contact of the fish body with its lower sloping edge. The plate can descend until its top 91 engages the stop piece of the lever. The fish are thereby arranged in one or two transverse groups on a conveyer with their heads pointing outwardly at one or both sides. Beheading wheel-cutters 18 are adjusted at the desired distance from the tail cutter 90 to cut off the heads and leave the required length of fish body.
