Abstract
617,502. Yeast. ALUMINIUM PLANT & VESSEL CO., Ltd., MORITZ, F. E. B., and PAINE, S. W. T. Oct. 30, 1944, No. 21112. [Class 14 (ii)] For restoring the fermentative vigour of yeast used in the fermentation of wort to beer by the single open vessel, the dropping or the Yorkshire system preparatory to re-using the yeast in one of these systems, the yeast, together with some wort and beer, but excluding the hop resins and first dirty heads, is placed in a closed apparatus comprising a barm vessel d, a fermentation vessel a at a lower level, a swan-neck pipe c connecting the top of a with the top of d, and a pipe e, in which is a flow control cock f, connecting the bottom of d with the bottom of a. The wort, beer and yeast mixture is carried up the pipe c by the carbon dioxide evolved, and so circulates in the apparatus, the yeast collecting in the vessel d.
