Abstract

<PICT:0617478/III/1> The apparatus for cleaning articles by spraying them with paraffin or other liquid according to the parent Specification is modified by embodying therein a device for separating atomized cleaning liquid from the air escaping from the spraying nozzle or from the air vent pipe of the subsidiary tank. This device comprises a casing with an inlet for the air to be treated, a pad of absorbent material, such as felt, against which the air is caused to impinge, a spring-controlled drain valve for the separated liquid and an outlet for the cleaned air. In Fig. 1, the spraying nozzle 15 of the cleaning apparatus is inserted into inlet 16 of a cylindrical casing 1. This casing is provided with pad 4 of absorbent material, spring-controlled drain valve 6 and air outlet pipe 19. Valve 6 is normally open, but closes under the pressure of the air entering casing 1. The outlet 18 on pipe 19 is enclosed by perforated cap 21 and a baffle plate 22 is centrally supported on arms 23. This baffle plate is of smaller diameter than the outlet so as to leave an annulus through which the air current has to pass. Casing 1 may be formed as a separate compartment of the main tank of the parent Specification.
