Abstract

209,611. Sedivß (nee Laskova), J. Jan. 31. 1923. Funnel strainers; strainers having sheet straining - materials; separating by gravity. -In a device for separating the components of a mixture of the type comprising a funnel 1, Fig. 1, having a stem 2, which projects into the funnel body so as to form a space 9 for the collection of sediment and the heavier liquid, strainers 7, through which the lighter liquid passes into the stem, and a shield 4, round the edge of which the mixture passes into the lower space, the shield and strainers are carried by a sleeve 5 which rests loosely in the upper end of the stem and the sleeve has an air vent 8. The sleeve is supported by means of a flange 6. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the lower space has cylindrical partitions 20, 21, forming settling compartments for the heavier liquid, which may be continuously discharged through a pipe 25 having a valve 24. The sleeve 5 is provided with a valve composed of a cylinder 12 with oblong apertures, the position of which is determined by a spring 13 and a nut 14 on the valve stem 9. Strainers 7<1>, 19 are carried by a cylinder 10. The shield 4 has apertures around its circumference. A filling receptacle 27 is provided with strainers in its base.
