Abstract
617,458. Supports for bicycles. DALY, W. Oct. 2, 1946, No. 29331. [Class 136 (i)] A strut for supporting a bicycle is connected to a member on the frame and has a keyhole - shaped opening, in the narrow part of which, when the strut is in an inclined supporting position, a non-circular part of the member lies without turning against an inclined bottom wall of the opening and part of the strut engages a correspondingly inclined face on the member, whilst when the member engages in the enlarged part of the opening, the strut can bo swung about the axis of the member to an out-of-way position. The strut 18 has a keyhole-shaped opening 17 with a circular part 17b and a narrow part 17a which closely fits the part 16 of square crosssection of the member 11 secured between the limbs of a bracket 12 clamped to the bottom bracket of the frame. When in use, the strut is supported in position by contact with an inclined part 20 of the member and by contact between the inclined bottom part 19 of the part 17a and part 16. The part 16 may be set at a slight angle so that the strut can also be at an angle when in use. When not in use the strut 16 may be held in place by a clip on the frame. The length of the strut is variable. The telescopic parts 22 and 23 are connected by a pair of bolts adjustably secured in holes 25a and 25b.
