Abstract

615,384. Lamp supports. HORSTMANN, F. G. Aug. 7, 1946, No. 23415. [Class 75 (iii)] [Also in Group XIV] A universally adjustable support for a lamp in which the bracket or stirrup carrying the lamp is provided with a rearwardly extending spigot 19, the axis of which is at right angles to the axis on which the lamp is pivoted. The spigot 19 extends into a split socket 20 to be clamped therein by a screw. A bowed blade spring 24 located about the socket is adapted to press friction washers against the upper and lower surfaces of the socket and to engage the socket support to prevent accidental turning thereof. The accommodating holes in the socket 20 for the clamping screw 22 and the pivot 19 of the bracket or stirrup are disposed at right angles to one another and are arranged to intersect so that the stem of the screw may engage a groove in the spigot the outer end of which is off-set to facilitate engagement and withdrawal.
