Abstract

603,580. Pedestal stands. FOUNTAIN, Ltd., G. R., NOEL, G. E., and OSBORN, B. T. March 19, 1945, No. 6817. [Classes 52(i) and 52(iii)] In a telescopically adjustable stand the inner member 5 has a closed end or is fitted with a cup washer 9 and co-operates with the outer member 1 to act as a dash-pot to check the downward motion of the inner member when the clamp 17 is released. A small air-hole 11 is provided near the bottom of the dash-pot chamber and a rubber buffer 10 may be mounted in the base of the tube 1. A ball-valve 12 allows air to enter when the stand is extended. The base is covered by an ornamental disc 3 secured by a nut 4. The clamp 17 is preferably that of Specification 603,581.
