Abstract
817,900. Scaffolding. KWIKFORM Ltd. July 5, 1957 [April 5, 1956], No. 10388/56. Class 20(2) An extension of adjustable length for a tubular scaffold pole 17 comprises a screw 10 on one end of which is mounted a nut 11 having a bearing member 15, and a screw 19 for detachably securing the bearing member 15 to one end of the pole 17 so that the end of the screw 10 extends within the pole 17 and the other end of the screw engages e.g. another scaffold pole 28. The bearing member may rotate in a groove in the nut 11 by means of a flange 26 or by welded studs (Fig. 1, not shown). The other end of the screw 10 may be welded to a socket 27 having a clamping screw 31 for receiving the further scaffold pole 28, the end of which engages an annular flange 32 at the base of the socket. Alternatively this end of the screw 10 may be revolvably connected to a pressure plate (Fig. 1, not shown) fitted with bolt holes which supports e.g. the side of a trench either directly or through a second plate or channel shaped element.
