616,896. Electric cables. SOC. ANON. DE TELECOMMUNICATIONSSept. 17, 1946. No. 27896. Convention date, Sept. 21, 1945. [Class 36] An apparatus for cutting out and positioning insulating discs on the central conductor of a coaxial cable punches the discs from a strip of insulating material, presses them into rotatary holders and positions them on the central conductor. Two plates 1, 2 carrying dies 3 are turned by the action of pawls 8, 9 on ratchetwheels 6, 7. Two punch holders 13 (Fig. 3) are controlled from driving shaft 12 and arranged so that one of the punches 14 operates each half revolution of said shaft 12. The plates 1, 2 move so that at the moment of operation of the punch 14 there is a die 3 opposite the punch. A disc is stamped from the insulating strip 15 and retained in the die 3. The operation is repeated by the second punch and the other plate when the shaft 12 has rotated another half turn. The punching operation is carried out at positions 16, 17, Fig. 2, and the discs carried round to positions 18, 19 where they are transferred, by channels in magazine 21, respectively to one end of a slot 26 in a plate 23 which is then slid to place the disc on the conductor 22 and to position the other end of the slot to receive a disc from the other plate. When one disc has just been ejected from position 18, another disc just attains position 19, and is ejected therefrom after half a turn of the shaft 12. The discs are held against movement, when being placed on the conductor, by two vanes 27, 28 coming together under the action of a double cam 29 on the shaft 11, this shaft having an eccentric 10 to actuate the pawls 8, 9 and a cam 24 to actuate the sliding slotted plate 23.
