Abstract

Products useful as dispersing and stabilizing agents in water-in-oil emulsions are obtained by re-esterifying a polymerized and possibly oxidized drying or semi-drying fatty acid triglyceride with 8-20 per cent of polyglycerol, calculated on the weight of triglyceride. In a modification, the triglyceride may be replaced by a corresponding mixture of polymerized and possibly oxidized fatty acid and glycerol. An example is given of the re-esterification of polymerized soya bean oil with diglycerol and reference is made also to the treatment of linseed oil, sunflower-seed oil, cotton-seed oil, wood oil, whale oil and fish oil. Specification 494,639 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes further modifications in which the polymerized and possibly oxidized triglyceride is replaced by the untreated triglyceride or a corresponding mixture of fatty acid and glycerol or polyglycerol, in any of which events the product is polymerized and, if desired, oxidized. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Products useful as dispersing and stabilizing agents in water-in-oil emulsions are obtained by re-esterifying a polymerized and possibly oxidized drying or semi-drying fatty acid triglyceride with 8-20 per cent of polyglycerol, calculated on the weight of triglyceride.
