Abstract

616,667. Electric fires. GIBBONS, W. J. Sept. 20, 1946, No. 28193. [Class 39 (iii)] A portable electric fire is mounted in a light resilient frame-work comprising a continuous loop 2 of strip metal for each end of the fire, the strip being bent back upon itself to form a seating for a reflector 1, and the framework being such that shocks imparted to the fire are taken up by the resilience. The strips 2 may be stainless steel and are secured by spotwelding, riveting or bolting to the ends of the reflector. Heating elements 3 comprising resistance wire wound on refractory rods are supported by having their ends located in ceramic bushes 4 in apertures in brackets or web plates 5 attached by lugs 7 to the reflector. Outer flanges, 6 are also secured by bolts to the lugs 7 and enclose the connections between the elements, the inside plates 5 having rolled-over edges 8.
