[Class 39(iii)] An electric fire comprises one or more trough-like structures, e.g. of carborundum or nickel-chrome steel, secured at the ends to metal supports c connected to the secondary of a transformer, the troughs being adapted to receive pieces of material acting as radiants. The trough-like heating elements may comprise rods d having integral wings e between which rods of carborundum acting as radiants may be placed. In modifications, the heating elements comprise perforated troughs of sheet metal.
