Abstract
616,640. Regulating. ALVIS, Ltd., VARNEY, A. F., and RAMBLING, S. K. Sept. 14, 1946, No. 27653. [Class 7 (vi)] A fuel metering unit 2, which includes a pump, is provided with a byepass 4 normally closed by a valve 5 which is opened only at starting to reduce the fuel supply. The metering unit supplies fuel to the intake pipe or to a distributer at a rate proportional to the induction manifold pressure and also to any or all of the following: induction manifold temperature, crank-shaft speed, ambient pressure, and ambient temperature. The valve 5 may be operated by a solenoid when the starting switch is closed, and the return flow through the pipe 4 is adjustable by a valve 6 which may be controlled by temperature responsive means.
