Abstract

An anti-sweat composition is prepared by grinding a paint pigment into an organic water-insoluble binder capable of taking up oxygen when exposed to air and drying to form a tenacious film, the binder being in solution in a paint thinner, adding an emulsifier and water and emulsifying to form a water-in-oil type emulsion and then kneading in an enfoliated micaceous material. Specified binders are oleoresinous varnishes, and drying oils such as tung oil, linseed oil and dehydrated castor oil. The thinner may be a petroleum naphtha, a coal tar naphtha or turpentine. Specified driers which may also be present are lead, manganese and morpholine naphthenates. Ammonium oleate and naphtha are specified emulsifiers. The enfoliated mica is preferably used in the form of small granules. Specified binders are the drying oil modified polyhydric alcohol-polybasic acid varnishes, rosin-modified alkyd resins, ester gum, and phenolic resin varnishes. The thinner may be a petroleum naphtha, a coal-tar naphtha or turpentine. Specified driers which may also be present are lead, manganese, and cobalt naphthenates. Ammonium oleate and morpholine are specified emulsifiers. The exfoliated mica is preferably used in the form of small granules. Specified pigments are calcium carbonate and antimony oxide.
