Abstract
615,166. Cartons. CARTNER, J., and STREATER. G. H. July 30, 1946, No. 22722. [Class 18] A collapsable carton of fancy shape is formed of two blanks, one comprising a lid 11, rear wall 10 and bottom 12 and the other comprising front and side walls 29.. 32. Edges 13, 15, 14, 16 of the lid and bottom are parallel, the edge 16 being shorter than the edge 15, and the walls 29 .. 31 are trapezoidal. The depth d of the lid is less than the depth D of the bottom so that, in the set up condition, the walls 29, 31 and the front wall 30 slope in opposite directions. The blank forming the walls 28..32 is secured to the rear wall 10 by end flaps 39, 40 attached by adhesive or staples, and the bottom 12 is locked to the walls by the engagement of tabs 19, 20, 23, 24 on flaps 18, 2.1, 22 attached to the bottom with flaps 43, 44 on the walls 29, 32. The lid 11 is secured by the engagement of its flaps 17, 25, 26 with flaps 41, 42 on the walls 29, 31, the flaps 25, 26 having surfaces' 27 which stiffen the carton by pressing the side walls 28, 32 outwardly. A finger opening 45 may be formed in the front wall 30. The carton may be formed with the walls 29.. 31 sloping in the reverse direction to that shown.
