Abstract
614,875. Dielectric heating. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Aug. 9, 1946, No. 23666. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1945. [Class 39 (iii)] An elongated roll or cylinder, of paper or the like, is solidly wrapped on a core 4, and supported for rotation by a motor not shown, on shaft 12, which forms a central electrode. Radially outward from roll 2 are adjustable electrodes 20, 22. Electrodes 12 and 22 are grounded, and electrode 20 is connected to high frequency conductor 32 thus setting up a radial field 37 and outer electric fields 38, 39. Adjustment of the fields by movement of the outer electrodes produces uniform heating throughout the roll.
