614,585. Dielectric heating. INTRA-THERM CORPORATION. July 15, 1946, No. 21151. Convention date, July 16, 1945. [Class 39 (iii)] A quarter wave length transmission line having two limbs 10, 11, of conductors 16 is energised with H.F. power by valves 32, 32' and thereby functions as a tank circuit, and supplies power to heating electrodes 26, 27. A supply of D.C. or A.C. current is fed into the transmission lines at a voltage node 17 from a power supply 18, and voltages of appropriate phase and magnitude to sustain oscillation of the valves 32, 32' are taken from tapping points on the transmission line as shown. Limbs 22, 23, with telescopic extensions 24, 25, are connected to the transmission line by swivel joints 20, 21, to permit of variable mechanical arrangements to suit the size and nature of the material to be heated. Similarly the heating electrodes 28, 29, are mounted on swivel joints 26, 27, and may be used alone or in conjunction with an earthed electrode 31.
