[Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] An applicator for diathermy apparatus comprises a coil or a plate member moulded within and enclosed by flexible thermoplastic material. Fig. 1 shows each of two applicators consisting of a spiral coil 1 of evenly spaced turns moulded in position in a low loss flexible thermoplastic enclosing body 2. Each applicator is provided with an insulated cable 3, having a suitable plug for the diathermy generator, connected to the centre of the coil and preferably moulded to the plastic body 2. In the case of two applicators in series as shown an insulated connector 5 is provided. In a modification a plate electrode is provided with a stem the end of which forms a plug, the electrode plate and stem being moulded in and enclosed by the thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material may be polythene or a plastic of equivalent electrical and mechanical characteristics having a power factor not exceeding 0.0004 and a dielectric constant not exceeding 3.0.
