Abstract
678,384. Electric condensers; loaded cables. BELLING & LEE, Ltd. Oct. 2, 1950 [Oct. 17, 1949], No. 26639/49. Classes 36 and 37. A length of flexible cable for coupling an appliance to supply mains suppresses radio interference by the connection of the conductors to a series of short closely-spaced conducting surfaces within the cable covering, these surfaces being separated by insulators of high dielectric constant to form condensers between the conductors. As shown in Fig. 1, condensers 13, consisting of a small tube of barium titanate mixed with one or more of the oxides of rare earth metals (e.g. titanium or thorium) with silver coatings on their inner and outer surfaces, are threaded on one supply cable 11, the inner coatings being soldered to the cable, while cable 12 is soldered to the outer coatings. Further condensers 16, 17 are threaded on the earth line 10 and their outer coatings connected to the supply cables. In Fig. 2, the condensers 13 are connected by small fleflible links 21, 22. Fig. 3 shows a practical form of Fig. 1, encased in a plastic covering.
