Abstract

A circular guide for the H 01 mode is so formed that the inner surface has an anisotropic impedance the reactive component of which is greater than the resistive component. The guide may be formed of a helix, the turns of which may or may not be in contact, or an internally threaded hollow metal cylinder. In modifications, (a) the helix may be mounted in a hollow conductor, (b) the helix may be partly or completely immersed in a dielectric material, (c) the helix may be of rectangular section, or (d) the helix may consist of two interlaced rectangular conductors.
