Abstract

614,281. Control systems for high-frequency heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and NELSON, H. M. July 10, 1946, No. 20616. [Class 38 (iv)] The heating successively of a number of substantially like objects by dielectric or eddy current heating is controlled by terminating the heating of each object after the supply thereto of a pre-determined current of energy. In an embodiment 1 and 2 are the current and voltage coils respectively of a D.C. energy meter 3, placed in the power supply 4 to a valve oscillation generator 5 supplying energy to a coil or capacity plates. Rotation of disc 6 of the meter drives, through gears 7 and clutch 8, a pointer 9 moving over a calibrated dial 10. When an object is placed in position the electrical circuit is closed, the pointer rotates to a pre-determined position 11, a switch is tripped, and the power supply interrupted. An energy meter may alternatively be placed in the A.C. supply to the generator.
