[Classes 35 and 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A generator used for charging a battery is provided with a voltage control switch, a current control switch and a battery-connecting switch all mounted on the same base (see Group XXXVII). The voltage control switch inserts a field regulating resistance in the field circuit of the generator when the voltage becomes too high, the current control switch inserts the same resistance when the current becomes too high and the battery-connecting switch permits passage of current from generator to battery, but not vice versa. The voltage control coil and the shunt coil of the batteryconnecting switch are compensated for temperature variation by making part of the coil of a copper-nickel alloy with a negative or zero coefficient of resistance.
