612,798. Aircraft retractable undercarriages. MORANE-SAULNIER SOC. ANON. June 4, 1946, No. 16978. Convention date, March 7. [Class 4] A retractable leg 2 for an aircraft is pivoted at a fixedaxis 1, near the upper end, to which also is pivoted at 3 a bell-crank lever 5, 8, of which one end 8 is connected to a control rod 13, the other end 5 engaging a fixed stop 10 when in the locking position. A pin. 4 on the leg 2 projects through a larger opening 6 on the retractable leg. A second fixed stop 11 with an arcuate surface is arranged to bear against the central part of the bell-crank. When the bellcrank is engaged between the two stops the strut is held locked in the position for landing. For retraction, initial movement of the rod 13 first rotates the bell-crank about its axis 3 to disengage the stops and then rotates the bell-crank and retractable leg together about the fixed axis 1 to the retracted position.
