Abstract
611,759. Washing granular materials. GERRARD. H. May 7, 1946, No. 13755. [Class 82(ii)] In an apparatus for separating coke from ash and slag, a tank 1 contains water and means 2 for impelling water through a chamber 3 opening into a rear compartment 4 of the tank, whence the water flows into the portion 7 past baffles 6 and down an inclined plate 8 communicating with a housing for a coke conveyer 18 and imperforate separator plates 13, 14. The coke &c. is fed into a hopper 16 and on to imperforate immersion plate(s) 17 whence it is carried by the flow of water to the gap between the plates 14, 17, the heavy ash or slag falling through the gap to the transverse conveyer 11 whence it is removed by an external elevator 15, while the coke is carried across the separator plate 13 and removed by conveyer 18. The plates 13, 14 are relatively adjustable so as to vary the gap between them and the immersion plate 17, whilst the plate 13 is extended forward of the tank as a perforated plate 14. A motor 20 through gearing 21 drives the impeller 2 and the conveyers 11, 15 and 18.
