Abstract

611,467. Wheel stops. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., and KERSHAW, N. G. May 1, 1946, No. 13160. [Class 104 (ii)] A wheel stop, when inoperative, forms part of the track rail and is displaced therefrom to its arresting position. The movement may be a parallel or pivotal one in a vertical or horizontal plane. As shown, the member 4 is pivoted at 3 to a base-plate 2 secured to the adjacent ends of track rails 1 and has an upper surface 5 forming a continuation of the rails 1. The end 6 of the member forms the stop and, when inoperative, engages between flanges 7 on the base-plate 2 to prevent transverse dis. placement. Member 4 is rocked by rollers 13 on an arm 9 fixed to a shaft 8 which carries a crank arm 15 coupled to the piston-rod of a fluid-pressure cylinder 17 containing a spring, the spring normally returning the member to its operative position. It may be retained inoperative by a bolt passing at 20, 21 through the end 6 and flanges 7.
