Abstract

611,292. Raising sunken ships. QUINTEROS, E. F. April 26, 1946, No. 12680. [Class 68 (ii)] An apparatus for salvaging vessels of the type comprising a hollow cylindrical float chamber which is submerged by filling with water so that it may be secured to the sunken vessel and is subsequently blown with compressed air to refloat the vessel, comprises a float chamber in the form of a hollow cylinder 1 formed into a conical projection 2 at one end and having affixed to it along two opposite cylinder generatrices, on one side a railing 5 for lashings or fastenings for manoeuvring and a similar railing 4 on the other side for the attachment of ballast and chain or cable fastening to the vessel. Two or more cocks 7, 71 are provided for connecting the float chamber to a compressor, whilst another cock 6<SP>1</SP> allows for admission and discharge of water to and from the interior of the hollow casing.
