Abstract

Differently-coloured sections that are to be juxtaposed and bonded together to form a complete article, e.g. a draughtboard or a multicoloured stick, are made by preforming under heat and pressure each section in a semi-cured but bondable state from a thermosetting moulding compound having the colour desired for that section. The sections are then assembled and the assembly is subjected to a final moulding operation under heat and pressure to completely cure the sections and bond them together. The material used may be urea-formaldehyde resin. The section may be plane or bent. Plane sections may be bonded to engraved or embossed sections.
