Abstract

Heated articles are coated by dipping into a bed of granular synthetic plastic material which has been fluidized by an ascending stream of gas, some or all of the gas stream being subjected to continuous pulsations. The pulsations may have a frequency between 1 and 200 c/s. The plastic may be thermosetting but is preferably thermoplastic such as polythene. The pulsations may be controlled by a valve actuated by a cam driven through a variablespeed gear; the valve may be by-passed so that only part of the gas stream is pulsated. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 759,214.
