597,666. Heating thermoplastic materials by electromagnetic induction. BENN, A., and ALLEN, H. G. July 31, 1945, No. 19714. Drawings to Specification., [Class 39 (iii)] Joining thermoplastic materials, e.g. two parts of a casing for a radio component, by placing a conducting member such as a metal ring between the surfaces to be joined and inducing eddy currents within the ring by highfrequency induction. The material adjacent to the surface of the ring is softened and pressure is applied to the two halves of the casing to consolidate the join, the ring being embedded in the plastic. Specification 518,289 is referred to.
