[Class 64(iii)] In plate heat-exchangers for cooling &c. milk &c. of the kind comprising a plurality of plate members separating the heat exchanging liquids and provided with grooves u for rubber packing g, distributings ribs d and channels c for directing the flow of liquid between the inlets e and the ribs d and between the ribs d and the outlets f, the part l of the packing groove u adjacent the channel c is arranged at an angle to the ribs d so that the cross sectional area of the channel is successively reduced and the plates are pressed so that all four sides of the channel c which is substantially rectangular in cross section (as shown in Fig. 5) are in contact with the heat exchanging liquids. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes two further Figs., 6 and 7 (Cancelled), which indicated sheet metal ribs h supporting the rubber packing g. These Figures do not appear in the Specification as accepted.
