Abstract
A solid insecticidal composition is obtained by subjecting to a conforming pressure and thereafter drying a mixture of an active insecticidal agent, a liquid and a solid diluent or filler, the insecticidal agent being either benzene hexachloride, or a compound of the general formula R1(R2)CH-CX3 in which R1 contains at least 3 carbon atoms, R2 contains at least 5 carbon atoms and X is chlorine or bromide, e.g. dichlordiphenyl-trichlorethane. Specified liquids are water, or organic solvents such as petroleum oil. Specified solid diluents are kaolin, and chalk. The product may also contain activating agents such as pyrethrum and organic thiocyanates. If the product is to come in contact with rain a waxy substance such as paraffin wax may be added. The solid may be moulded into a crayon or may be employed in banding fruit trees. Specifications 547,871 and 547,874 are referred to.
