Abstract

Acid calcium phosphate Ca(H2PO4)2 is "converted" to acid calcium pyrophosphate CaH2P2O7 by heating 75-90 parts by weight of it with 10-25 parts of acid sodium pyrophosphate Na2H2P2O7 at 190-220 DEG C. for 1 to 4 hours. Residual calcium phosphate and sodium pyrophosphate may be dissolved out with water. For use in aerating powders conversion is preferably restricted to 25 per cent by weight of acid calcium pyrophosphate. Bicarbonates, diluents, e.g. starch, wheat, flour, &c., and acid ingredients, e.g. acid sodium pyrophosphate, may be added to form aerating compositions.ALSO:Acid calcium pyrophosphate CaH2P2O7 made by heating 75-90 parts of acid calcium phosphate Ca(H2PO4)2 with 10-25 parts of acid sodium pyrophosphate Na2 H2P2O7 at 190-220 DEG C for 1 to 4 hours is used in aerating compositions. Conversion is preferably restricted to 25 per cent by weight of acid calcium pyrophosphate. Diluents e.g. starch, wheat, flour, &c., acid ingredients e.g. acid sodium pyrophosphate, and bicarbonates may be added. Residual calcium phosphate and sodium pyrophosphate may be dissolved out with water from the reaction product.
