608,651. Hand trucks for gas cylinders. LEGG, B. J., WINGFIELD, A. H. W., and VINE, T. H. Feb. 22, 1946, No. 5526. [Class 108 (i)] A hand truck has its axle and wheels C, mounted in brackets b, connected by a crossmember and secured to sleeves or slippers B able to slide along the lower section of the side frames A, as the load, e.g. a couple of gas cylinders F, F<SP>1</SP> is lowered from the vertical position in which it is received to the approximately horizontal position in which it is wheeled, in order to minimise the weight supported at the handles a. A cross-member E having semi-circular parts cut-away, and chains G, G' serve to position and secure the gas cylinders F, F<SP>1</SP>. Each side frame member A has a strut K, Fig. 5, pivoted thereto and arranged to hang with its lower end just clear of the sleeve B, thereby arresting any sudden backward tipping, but able to swing clear to permit normal inclination of the truck.
