Abstract

718,376. Hand trucks. POWELL, C. F. N. Oct. 22, 1952 [Aug. 10, 1951], No. 18930/51. Class 108(1) A hand truck for lifting and supporting sacks &c or bins, Fig. 1, comprises a handle 1, a curved cross-member 3 fitted with sleeves 3a supporting wheels on stub axles 5, and at least two foot members 8 which may be moved into the full line position to form a support for a sack, or into the dotted line position in which the lifting of bins by means of a slidable hook 4 is not obstructed. The limbs 7 of the feet are spring pressed in the sleeve and are provided with stops 10 to engage shoulders 9 to limit their rotation. The feet may be arranged to rotate in a vertical plane or may be pulled out from or retracted into the member 3,. alternatively the feet may slide in the-handle 1 or in two handles or may be hinged. In a modification, the position of the sleeves relative to the member 3 may be varied, and a straight crossmember may be used. The feet when extending rearwardly support the hand truck in a semi-vertical position.
