Abstract

608,581. Supplying liquid fuel. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. Dec. 20, 1944, No. 25555. Convention date, July 2, 1942. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel tank 10 in an aircraft fuel system has a booster fuel pump 16 mounted in the bottomof the tank, the pump including means in free communication with the interior of the tank for beating-out bubbles of gas and vapour from the fuel before the fuel is trapped in the pump and two normally closed vent valves are provided, one 77 opening from the tank to release pressure from the inside whenever the outside air pressure is exceeded by a predetermined amount and the other 66 opening into the tank to allow the air to flow into it whenever the outside air pressure exceeds the pressure in the tank. The fuel pump vanes are arranged to overlap the inlet opening for fuel from the tank. The arrangement of the booster fuel pump and the engine-driven fuel pump is identical with that described in Specification 608,580.
