Abstract

A condenser dielectric composition possessing high dielectric constant and low dielectric power factor, comprises titanium dioxide, a flux, and an oxide of one or more of the elements having atomic numbers between 59 and 72, with the oxide or oxides ranging from about 10 per cent to about 60 per cent by weight of the total composition, whereby the temperature-capacity coefficient may be predetermined from positive values slightly above zero, through zero to negative values. A suitable flux may be calcium, magnesium, beryllium and aluminium silicates, as well as silica and calcium and magnesium titanates and where desirable an organic plasticizer such as starch or flour may be added. An example of a mixture having a zero temperature coefficient of dielectric constant comprises, neodymium oxide 48.2 per cent, samarium oxide 5.3 per cent, titanium dioxide 43.0 per cent, and china clay 3.5 per cent.
