Abstract
607,036. Securing impellers on shafts. MILLINGTON, W. E. W. Jan. 23, 1946, No. 2273. [Class 80 (ii)] In a centrifugal pump having a single impeller rotatable in a casing adapted to be opened for removing the impeller, the impeller 2 is mounted on the overhung end of a driving shaft 1 by an axial sliding movement, the shaft 1 and impeller 2 having interengaging means to form a driving connection and the hydraulic axial thrust on the impeller 2 during operation being in the same sense as the axial sliding movement. The driving connection may be formed by the pin 5 secured in the shaft 1 engaging the slot 7 of the impeller spigot 4. Alternatively, keys or splines may form the driving connection.
