Abstract

606,721. Armature winding machines. MIDLAND DYNAMO CO., Ltd., and STARFIELD, C. P. Jan. 17, 1946, No. 1585. [Class 35] In an armature winding machine of the type in which the armature and a wire feeder revolve relatively about an axis perpendicular to that of the armature two pairs of inclined guides are provided to guide the wire into slots on opposite sides of the armature and the spacing of the pairs is adjustable as well as the distance between the guides of a pair. In the Figure, the armature, not shown, is mounted between two adjustable supports 31 and is held stationary with its axis horizontal and transverse to the stationary spindle 3 which carries a bobbin of wire between cones 29, wire from this bobbin passing through eyes 7, 7<SP>1</SP> on flyer 6 and pairs of adjustable guides 17a, 17b, 18a, 18b which feed it into the slots. The flyer is rotated by chain drive and gearing from motor 37 containing a screwed spindle carrying limit switch operating members which are adjustable in position so that the motor can be stopped after the desired number of turns have been wound. The spacing between the guides of a pair, and between the two pairs is readily adjustable to suit the armature length and diameter respectively.
