[Class 120(iii)] [Also in Group V] A bobbin, quill or yarn-supporting core of the type comprising a pre-formed tubular barrel round one end of which is moulded an annularsleeve or bead of mouldable resinous material, has an annular enlargement at one end of the barrel, which is embedded in the bead during the moulding operation. The tubular barrel 2 of paper or fibrous material is expanded at its end to form a flange 3, and slits or perforations may be provided to give better engagement with the plastic material 5. Holding rings 8 may be embedded in the periphery of the sleeve or bead; these may be of circular section, or of metal rolled or spun to semicircular section. Alternatively holding rings may be formed as ribs in a metallic annulus surrounding the sleeve.
