Abstract

738,704. Winding yarn. EHEIM, W. July 13, 1953, No. 19357/53. Class 120(2). An expansible core-holding mandrel for bobbin winding machines, the mandrel comprising a hollow cone 10 which is provided with longitudinal slots 13 to form resilient leaves 14 adapted to clampedly engage a core slidably mounted thereon, is characterized in that the mandrel is made of resilient plastic material, such as a polyamide, polystyrene, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate or a mixed polymer, and that the free edges of the mandrel leaves are stiffened by longitudinal ribs 17 disposed on the insides of the leaves and preferably of substantially the same thickness as the mandrel walls. The leaves are preferably provided with a core-limiting flange 16 and circumferential ribs 15.
