Abstract

To facilitate web splicing, Fig. 4 (not shown), without stopping processing machinery, a web is wound in a double layer on a core 1 by first unequally folding a web as shown in Fig. 2. On winding, a roll having the end 3 spaced from the outer convolution is formed to permit splicing to commence before complete unwinding of the formed roll. The web may be ribbon, strip or flattened tubular material.
