Abstract

A plastic bobbin includes concentric inner and outer tubes connected along their lengths by integral ribs. The ribs may be radial or may be angled so that pairs of adjacent ribs define between them an axially extending channel of triangular or truncated triangular cross-section. The bobbin is cheaper than plastic coated metal bobbins and is strong enough to resist radial forces exerted by a yarn package on the bobbin.
