Abstract

A bobbin includes a cylindrical stem having fingers formed on each end which are inserted into apertures formed by cut-out tags in end flanges of the bobbin. The tags and fingers are bent over against the sides of the end flanges to secure the stem to the end flanges pref. each end flange has a central aperture surrounded by an annular projecting portion and pref. a guide tube located with the stem has its ends projecting through the central apertures of the end flanges and bent over to secure it to the end flanges. Each end flange pref. has radial extending strengthening ribs and pref. has its periphery rolled over to form a rim. The bobbin is light and robust and the end flanges are secured to the stem without soldering thereby decreasing mfg. costs.
