Abstract

606,091. Numbering hand-stamps. STANLEIGH, E. W. H. April 23, 1946, No. 12258. [Class 10C(ii)] The numbering wheels 8 of a hand stamp can either be advanced automatically or advanced by a hand lever 30. When set for automatic advancement as shown in Fig. 4 a semi-circular locking member 49 mounted on the main frame 5 is turned to engage a recessed arm 50 secured to a lever 48 pivoted to the frame 5 and connected by a link 47 to a pin 35 on the pawl arm 34. For hand advancement the locking member is turned to release the parts 47 and 48, as shown in Fig. 3. The operation of the hand lever 30 swings a frame 38 pivoted to the carrier 7 of the numbering head, in a clockwise direction, thereby pulling a slotted link 36 engaging the pin 35, and thus advancing the numbering wheels 8. A projection 44 slightly lowers the carrier 7 and causes, by mechanism described in Specification 606,090, the inking pad to be moved away from the numbering wheels during the advancing action. During automatic advancing, the hand lever 30 is inoperative and downward movement of the carrier 7 causes the pin 35 to rotate clockwise about the spindle 9 of the numbering head. On the return movement the arm 34 rotates anti-clockwise and the pawls 32 advance the numbering mechanism.
