[Class 100(ii ] In a hectograph copying machine means for securing a master sheet 39 to the print ing drum 1 comprises a clip bar 7 slidable in a longitudinally extending slot 8 from a position in which the outer face 9 of the clip bar 7 is substantially flush with or sunken below the surface of the drum 1 to a position, Fig. 2, in which a channel 10 cut in the clip bar 7 parallel to its outer face 9 is exposed at the drum surface, levers 11 pivoted at 13 to the ends of the drum and at 12 to the ends of the clip bar 7 which is held in the flush or sunken position by springs 14, and cam means on the drum actuated during the rotation of the drum by means on the frame of the machine to co-operate with the levers 11 to project the clip bar 7. The cam means consist of a flat 16 at each end of a bar 15 extending through the drum 1 and carrying at one end an arm 18 mounting a roller 19. A lever 20 pivoted to the frame at 21 is normally held out of the path of the roller 19 by a spring 22, but when a hand lever 25 pivoted to the frame at 26 is moved to its operative position, Fig. 2, a roller 27 thereon engages the outer surface 29 of the lever 20 and moves it to a position in which the roller 19 is engaged by the inner surface 23 of the lever 20 as the drum is rotated. This rotates the bar 15 and the flats 16 raise the levers 11 and project the clip bar 7. When the drum is rotated again after the master sheet 39 has been inserted, a pin 33 on the drum 1 engages a projection 32 on the lever 25 to release the roller 27 from the lever 20 and allow the levers 20, 25 to return to their normal positions. The projection 32 is shaped so that the levers 20, 25 will be released even if the drum is rotated in the wrong direction. A number of small blade springs may be provided on the face of the slot 8 to assist in holding the master sheet. The sheet 39 is. fed to the clip bar 7 over a fixed table 34 which may have a telescopic detachable or pivoted extension such as a framework 35 pivoted to the frame at 36 and provided with one or more guide rods.
