Abstract

605,852. Electrode materials. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. June 4, 1946, No. 16940. Convention date, April 15, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] In an electron discharge tube having three or more electrodes between the anode and cathode, one of which is a suppressor grid, the anode and the screen grid are coated with one or more compounds such as the oxides of the alkaline, alkaline earth or earth metals so that a .high .rate of secondary emission is obtained; this results in the emission of only low velocity secondaries which a wide mesh suppressor grid can restrain in movement. Caesium oxide is preferred as coating material, but use may be made of the compounds of potassium, sodium, - lithium, subidium, calcium, strontium, barium, magnesium, beryllium, aluminium, scandium, itrium, 'lanthanum and rare earths, zirconium, titanium, hafnium and thorium. The subjectmatter is identical with that of Specification 550,728.
