Abstract

605,589. Heating fluids by dielectric and induction heating. LORD, H. C., LORD, T., and HARTMAN, B. M., (trading as L. L. H. CO.). Dec. 20, 1945, No. 34529. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1944. [Class 39(iii)] Fluid from a pipe 18 is regulated by a valve 16 controlling the flow into a venturi tube 19 from which the fluid passes into a tube 20 of ceramic or like material surrounded by two annular electrodes 30 connected to a source of H.F. power. A pump 21 creates a region of low pressure in the tube 20, and continuously withdraws the heated fluid to a condenser or other container. An alternative arrangement shown in Fig. 2 includes an inductive circuit 31 coupling the electrodes 30 to the H.F. power circuit which inductive circuit also surrounds the tube 20. Various other arrangements of electrodes within the tube 20 are described.
