Abstract

1361664 Producing aerosols CONCEPT ENG Ltd 27 July 1972 [19 Oct 1971] 48623/71 Heading F3C An apparatus for producing a light-dispersing aerosol comprises a capillary tube 4 through which in use a mixture of high boiling point oil and a non-inflammable gas passes, at least part of the tube having a high electrical resistance such that when the tube is connected in an electrical circuit by means of connections 6 the at least part of the tube heats up to heat the oil and gas mixture and so produces the aerosol. A low voltage D.C. source 9 is used as the power supply and this is connected into the circuit through a relay 8. The oil and gas mixture is produced by passing pressurized gas through a gas inlet aperture in an oil outlet pipe 3 of an oil tank 1, the pressurized gas flow being controlled by a valve which is also actuated on operation of the relay 8. The tube 4 ends in a nozzle 5. The oil outlet pipe 3 may pass through an extension of the top of the oil tank in which case the gas outlet aperture is positioned within the extension.
