Abstract

An insulin solution having a prolonged action and suitable for use by injection is obtained by dissolving insulin and polyvinyl pyrrolidone in water, the latter in quantity sufficient to form a concentrated aqueous solution thereof, e.g. 10-20 per cent by weight. Such solutions may contain in addition small quantities of metallic salts, e.g. sodium bicarbonate and sodium, magnesium and calcium chlorides.ALSO:An insulin solution having a prolonged action and suitable for use by injection is obtained by dissolving insulin and polyvinyl-pyrrolidone in water, the latter in quantity sufficient to form a concentrated aqueous solution thereof, e.g. 10-20 per cent by weight. Such solutions may contain in addition small quantities of metallic salts, e.g. sodium bicarbonate and sodium, magnesium and calcium chlorides.
