[Class 42(i)] [Also in Groups XI and XXXVI] In the welding of plastic compositions, the welding zone may be enveloped in hot inert gas, the gas being supplied through the chromium nickel duct 15 of a blowpipe having a stainless steel divergent funnel 18, and the duct 15 being electrically heated as described in the abridgment in Group XI. The inert gas may be nitrogen, and for welding polythene a gas temperature of about 300‹C. is stated to be suitable.
